What exactly does OBI-USA do?

In the simplest terms, we help you find suppliers for your part or product, whether it's your finished product or something that goes into making it. We act as a purchasing agent, searching for the best supplier based upon your particular needs. Do I need to order large quantities?

No. In fact, we specialize in low volume, short delivery time orders, as well as highly complex parts. Of course, we also have suppliers who can turn out high volumes of products, so whatever your volume needs, we have the resources to find the right manufacturer for you.  Back to FAQ's

How does OBI-USA get paid?

Our cost is included in the price of the product when we quote it to you. As with any supplier, we need to be cost competitive so we're always sensitive to price. But since we're going directly to the manufacturer, we eliminate much of the overhead that is included when working through a distributor or manufacturer's representative.  Back to FAQ's

How does shipping work?

Shipping depends upon where the product is coming from. We generally try to find local shops so that shipping costs are minimized. We can also offer warehousing and drop shipping if needed, shipping only what you need, where you need it.  Back to FAQ's

How do I protect my products from illegal copying?

We use only the most reputable manufacturing firms - companies we know and trust. Furthermore, you can request non-disclosure agreements and supply your own tooling which we can return to you. Of course, you're also protected by the full force of US patent rights.  Back to FAQ's

How do you find your suppliers?

We use our own experience, the experience of our customers as well as a network of independent industry insiders knowledgeable about the market areas we serve to find our suppliers. Each is rigorously screened and reviewed before we accept them in our supplier network.  Back to FAQ's

How long does it take?

Each project is different, so a standard timeline is difficult to create. In most cases, it will depend upon the complexitiy of the job, the volume required and other special requirements. But we do have suppliers who are able to quote and produce the same day the sample or drawings are received. If you need product quickly, we'll work to meet your needs. What about the tooling?

You will be free to acquire the tooling if you prefer. Once you approve your sample, we'll require a 50% deposit to produce the tooling and to begin production. When production is finished, you'll receive the tooling back. If ownership is not important, then tooling costs can be included in the unit cost in order to keep upfront investment low.  Back to FAQ's
